PETALING JAYA (MALAYSIA), 23 January 2015 – WCT Holdings Berhad (“WCT”) has appointed New World Hotels & Resorts to manage New World Petaling Jaya Hotel.

The deluxe hotel, which is located in Petaling Jaya, a matured-suburb approximately 15-minutes from Kuala Lumpur, is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2016. The hotel is part of WCT’s RM1.8 billion (USD506 million) Paradigm Integrated Commercial Development in the area.

The appointment of New World Hotels & Resorts was sealed during a signing ceremony held at Paradigm Mall today. The documents were signed between Mr. Taing Kim Hwa, Managing Director of WCT, and Mr. Symon Bridle, Chief Operating Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, parent company of New World Hotel & Resorts.

The Paradigm Integrated Commercial Development is the first 4-in-1 development in Petaling Jaya. The development’s core components include shopping (Paradigm Mall), corporate offices (The Ascent), serviced residences (The Azure) and hotel (New World Petaling Jaya Hotel). When completed, Paradigm Integrated Commercial Development will collectively serve to rejuvenate the Kelana Jaya area, transforming it into a sought-after commercial and social destination for communities within Klang Valley and beyond.

Mr. Taing said, “New World Petaling Jaya Hotel is a significant component to the overall development as it will have its own captive market to serve while at the same time tapping on the synergies derived from shoppers and mall visitors, tenants and employees in the Class A corporate offices as well as residents in the serviced suites.”
“New World Hotels & Resorts is an ideal partner to manage the hotel given its track record and positive reputation as a five star deluxe brand throughout the region. We are also inspired by the brand’s commitment towards Oriental hospitality and traditions, which will indeed touch a chord amongst local and foreign visitors alike here in Malaysia,” Taing said.

New World Petaling Jaya Hotel will occupy the top 12 floors of a dual-use 30-storey tower that will also consist of The Azure serviced residences. Located West of Kuala Lumpur, along a major highway route that connects the greater part of Klang Valley to Petaling Jaya city, and with close proximity to the Kelana Jaya LRT station, the hotel will offer door step conveniences and easy accessibility to both business and leisure activities.
“With its prime location in fast-growing Petaling Jaya, the hotel will make a significant contribution to our continued expansion into Southeast Asia.” says Sonia Cheng chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, the parent company of New World Hotels & Resorts. “WCT has given us a great opportunity to introduce our ‘modern Oriental hospitality’ to the greater Kuala Lumpur hotel market,” she concluded.

The hotel’s lobby and guestrooms will be designed by Singapore-based Avalon Collective Interior Design. The property will feature 316 guestrooms and suites with the brand’s signature Residence Club Living Room offering exclusive benefits such as complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments and dedicated concierge service for Residence Club and hotel suite guests.

The hotel will feature a signature sky deck (first hotel in Petaling Jaya), comprising a sky lounge, infinity pool, kid’s pool, reflective pool, Jacuzzi, sun deck, gym, changing rooms and steam bath. It will also incorporate a banquet hall with a 1,000 pax capacity and eight meeting rooms totaling 2000m2.

The New World Hotels & Resorts’ expanding portfolio includes Kota Kinabalu (2018) and the latest addition New World Petaling Jaya Hotel (third quarter of 2016) with six new projects in mainland China located in Haikou (2019), Shenyang (2016), Zhengzhou (2016), Foshan (2017), Qingyuan (2017) and Langfang (2016.)
