Doughnuts are a staple in the average American’s diet and can be bought for less than a dollar… unless you find yourself in the Manila Social Club restaurant in Brooklyn in New York.
The restaurant has created a very special version of the doughnut for its customers. The Golden Cristal Ube doughnut is filled with a cream of Champagne and sprinkled with gold. Just one costs about 100 dollars.
The price may be high, but customers are queueing for them, said restaurant owner Bjorn DelaCruz in a local magazine interview.
“I didn’t know people would go and order a dozen at a time,” said DelaCruz. “But then again, this is New York.”
DelaCruz told the magazine the reason he created the doughnut was because he likes Champagne and he wanted to celebrate his restaurant’s opening.
