Tiger is always finding one thing or another to be amused by, which more often than not leads to deeper thought. This time Tiger acknowledges the amusement Tiger finds when business pitches come out of left field.
Tiger may not want to admit it, but Tiger shies away from driving sometimes, especially when the place Tiger has to get to is somewhere in the heart of the city. Not much of a relaxing drive and more of a literal pain in the posterior, in Tiger’s opinion.
So, when it comes to those situations, Tiger turns to public transportation, like the LRT and ride-sharing. But Tiger digresses. What Tiger wanted to talk about is the ingenuity that some enterprising individuals exhibit in their chase of their daily bread.
One particular situation that stands out in Tiger’s memory is when a driver arrived at a pickup location and had banners splashed on the side of the vehicle, advertising a particular real estate development, complete with handphone number to contact.
At that point, Tiger figured that this was a rather clever thing, getting a driver to place ads on their vehicles this way.
However, as Tiger was pondering why only some cars (with the assumption that there were more cars with ads than just the one vehicle that Tiger was looking at) got the ad treatment, as well as the revenue and profit margins from such an endeavour, Tiger was greeted by the driver, who struck up a conversation as the journey began.
All this still remains on the normal side of things, up until the point where the driver began to talk about real estate.
In fact, the driver was talking about the real estate that was advertised on his vehicle! When the vehicle stopped for a red light, the driver then turned around and gave Tiger his card, stating that he was a real estate agent who was driving for Uber as a way to meet more potential clients.
While Tiger did not take up the offer to purchase a unit in the development, Tiger remained amazed and amused at how enterprising the driver was. Not only was he earning from driving for Uber, he was also using the app as a means of expanding his network. To this, Tiger says bravo.
However, this got Tiger thinking. While not technically multitasking, this person was essentially able to work two jobs at the same time, in a way doubling productivity with the time he had in a day. As it were, this particular gentleman took what he had in his particular set of circumstances and adapted to do the best he can.
Tiger definitely applauds this form of adaptation. It speaks of how the human mind, applied creatively, can solve most issues. It is therefore no wonder that Tiger believes that the human mind is a beautiful thing and remains a gift to each individual.
Tiger also believes that every individual has the potential to find that particular course of action for the individual’s own trials and tribulations and to make the most of their situation. This, in Tiger’s opinion, is one of an entrepreneur’s greatest assets.
Still, there are times when such a gift is squandered or through misuse, or through disuse. Tiger knows that some enterprising individuals also use the gift of their minds to take advantage of their fellow man, turning a quick buck rather than work an honest day.
Such is the way of the world, is it not? That there has to be a shadow to the light. But Tiger believes that people in general are inherently good, and Tiger will continue to have faith in humanity. After all, where else is Tiger going to find a sudden sales pitch out of absolutely nowhere?
