The ringgit extended its gains to open higher against the US dollar on continued buying momentum following positive reaction by investors to the recalibrated 2016 Budget, dealers said.
At 9 am, the local unit was traded at 4.1650/1750 from 4.2040/2100 against the greenback on Thursday.
The ringgit also gained further support as the US economic growth weakened due to low global demand.
The ringgit traded higher against other major currencies.
It rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.9187/9261 from 2.9477/9525 on Thursday and strengthened against the yen to 3.5056/5149 from 3.5399/5453 yesterday.
The local note appreciated against the British pound to 5.9797/9961 from 5.9949/9051 and was up against the euro at 4.5511/5637 from 4.5828/5906 yesterday.
