Ford RangerToday Ford announced its November retail sales in Malaysia of 830 units, where 707 of those units were retail sales for the class-defining Ranger, Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia.

Sales for the Ranger have increased 12% year-to-date to 8,477 units on the back of strong demand for the XLT and Wildtrak.

The new Ranger is available with either a 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder diesel engine or a 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder diesel engine. It also has a payload capacity of up to 1,200kg, and can wade through up to 80cm of water, the deepest of any pickup in Malaysia.

It was awarded a maximum five-star safety rating by the Asean New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP), scoring 15.45 out of 16 points on the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score, which was the highest that any pickup truck in Malaysia has scored.

“Malaysian customers are looking for vehicles that offer a great combination of capability, performance, safety and technology, and the new Ranger’s class-leading combination of all of these is proving popular with customers nationwide,” said managing director of Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets David Westerman.
