Dell has rolled out new storage offerings aimed helping businesses and organisations cost-effectively adapt and scale their data centers to keep pace with ever-increasing IT demands, it said today.
In a statement, Dell said adapting the right, cost-effective IT solution that meets an organisation’s business needs is a major challenge today.
“The new Dell Storage SCv2000 Series brings the proven performance and protection of our Dell SC Series arrays to an entry-level offering with best-in-class value at a very disruptive price. Overall, our new solutions offer customers innovative technologies to efficiently improve and simplify storage management with both current and new IT approaches,” said William Tan head of Dell Enterprise Solutions.
Featuring high performance at an affordable price of approximately US$14,000 (RM53,000) per array, the SCv2000 series deliver best-in-class performance in a single, affordable 2U enclosure, said Dell.
These arrays offer features such as data protection features, RAID tiering to optimize capacity, thin provisioning, flash support, data-migration services, and multi-protocol connectivity, according to the statement.
For mid-sized or larger organisations, the Dell Storage PS6610 Series dense arrays offer 3.5x capacity and up to 7x performance compared to previous generation arrays for customers with large data repository requirements, Dell said further. The new arrays support a wide range of customers, particularly those requiring high-performing, high-capacity and scalable storage to expand an existing EqualLogic/PS Series SAN, replace an existing storage infrastructure or deploy a new one, it added.
Meantime the PS6610 appeals to organizations seeking advanced storage features in a dense array that is easy to manage and is optimized for workload consolidation, such as ERP applications, email storage and SQL databases, and for archival storage to support large data repositories such as those required for medical records, financial data and video surveillance, stated Dell.
Dell also today announced Dell Storage with Microsoft Storage Spaces, new, tested and validated solutions, designed to support Microsoft’s SDS capabilities on Dell’s enterprise-class server and direct attached storage hardware.
According to Dell these solutions share the same high level of validation rigor and complement the work Dell completed with Microsoft to deliver the Cloud Platform System. The new Scale-Out File Server (SOFS) solutions, available in five configurations, support customers seeking an SDS and virtualized storage approach to various workloads, including private cloud deployments, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and SQL and Hyper-V environments, it said.
Additionally, Dell today became the first storage array provider to announce adoption of the industry’s newest, highest-density and lowest-cost-for-performance enterprise flash drives, helping organizations of all sizes to significantly reduce costs associated with storing and managing their data, according to its statement.
With Dell’s modern, virtualised storage array architecture and unique intelligent data placement technology, Dell Storage SC Series array customers can adopt new Mainstream Read-Intensive (RI) SSDs, based on Triple Level Cell (TLC) 3D NAND technology, it said further.
The combination of these technologies and previously available flash and hard disk drive options enables customers to benefit from lower than ever flash price-for-performance and increased storage density across all array segments to meet high-end to entry-level customer needs, said Dell.
Dell further added that these solutions form part of Dell’s future-ready approach to IT solutions development continues to address both current and new methods for managing the massive growth of data with the announcement of a new entry-level array series, higher performing dense storage arrays, enhanced software capabilities and new SDS appliances.
