In this three-part series, KiniBiz considers the possible privatisation of Malaysia Airlines (MAS). We begin with looking at the many factors that need to be considered, such as who will control MAS, how and at what cost? We move on to consider the players who might be interested in and are capable of carrying out such a exercise. Names such as Syed Mokhtar Albukhary, Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim and Ahmad Johan don’t inspire confidence. We conclude with a list of four crucial factors MAS must address no matter what route the restructuring exercise takes.
