By KINIBIZ
In this four-part series, KiniBiz dissects the emerging market selloff. We start with an examination of the US Federal Reserve’s “tapering” and its ramifications. We move along to consider the fact that a decline in the stock market accompanied by a falling ringgit have raised the spectre of another Asian financial crisis ala 1997/98. Is Malaysia as vulnerable as it was then? We then ask whether as in 1997, speculation in currency markets could lead those with positions in the market to declare, or even as some claim, engineer a ‘crisis’ to profit from the trade? In the final part of this series, we summarise why the so called emerging markets crisis is really not going to happen.
