In this five-part series of articles, KiniBiz takes a very close look at Iskandar Malaysia. We begin by considering the fact that Iskandar’s booming property market has come crashing down this past year. We move along to the controversial RM4.5 billion land deal by the Johor Sultan and other mega property developments linked to him that have prompted analysts to warn of their potentially dire effects on the project’s long-term growth. Next up is the fact that Singaporean property investors are now more cautious about putting their money in Iskandar. In part 4 we discuss what can be done to prevent a further slide given the potential glut caused by Chinese developers flooding the market with high-end units. Finally KiniBiz discovers that despite general pessimism about the Iskandar region this year, some market observers feel that there is still hope yet for the national project.
