The AirAsia Foundation is now selling tickets to its Destination: Good – Asean Social Enterprise event, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 7, 2015. The full-day event will feature a conference in the first half of the day and exhibition (Marketplace) during the second half.
The event aims to discuss the future of social entrepreneurship in the Asean region and how big a complementary business and social enterprises play in making economic systems more equitable, sustainable and inclusive, said the Foundation.
The conference will feature two panel sessions. The first panel will discuss the topic of inclusive business and the second panel session will feature social enterprise experts who will discuss the Asean social enterprise ecosystem.
In the second half of the day, the AirAsia Foundation will be presenting an exhibition of 30 innovative Asean social enterprises in a Marketplace hall concept where each organisation will have the opportunity to showcase their businesses.
This will give attendees a chance to interact with the social entrepreneurs and purchase ethical products and services in support of their preferred social causes. Among the entrepreneurs exhibiting their work are Rags2Riches Inc from the Philippines; Selaka Kotagede, a traditional silversmiths label group from Yogyakarta; and Cambodian Living Arts, a Khmer traditional arts organisation.
There will also be environmental and wildlife conservation initiatives from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam present.
“Our intention in bringing together all these social enterprises is to raise awareness to the diversity of the sector. We hope that aspiring social entrepreneurs will be inspired by them. We also look forward to the social entrepreneurs forming their own networks and starting collaborations with one another,” said AirAsia Foundation executive director Yap Mun Ching.
