The twice-yearly Malaysia Property Expo (Mapex) will become a thrice-yearly affair from 2015, said organiser Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) today.
Speaking to the media today, Mapex organising committee chairman Ng Seing Liong said the event, which will be held for the second time this year on Oct 10-12, 2014, will be held in April, August and October for next year.
For the coming October event, the expo will be officiated by housing minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan on Oct 11, said Ng, given that Oct 10 coincides with the Budget 2015 tabling date.
Themed ‘Spend wisely, invest smartly’, the event will be held at the Midvalley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 10.00am to 9.00pm daily and admission is free to the public.
This time some RM20 billion of property encompassing residential, commercial, industrial and corporate office spaces are on offer, said Ng, with total units exceeding 20,000. Some 92 property developers will be taking part and all 259 booths were taken up, he added.
Prices of properties on offer range from a flat priced at RM48,000 in Pajam, Negeri Sembilan to a condominium priced at RM7.7 million in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre area, said Ng further.
While most properties on offer would likely be located in the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor area, there would also be properties in other locations such as Johor, Melaka and Perak as well as Perth, as one Australian developer is also participating, said Rehda.
Among the developers participating are Eco World Development Bhd, SP Setia Bhd, Glomac Bhd, UEM Sunrise Bhd and I&P Group Bhd. Financial institutions will also participate such as Bank Simpanan Nasional, Bank Islam Malaysia and Affin Bank, among others.
According to Rehda, government agencies including the National Housing Department and the Treasury Housing Loan Division will also be present during the expo for housebuyers in need of assistance.
“For the first time, in this iteration we have a blood donation drive as part of Rehda’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) work,” said Ng to reporters at Wisma Rehda in Kelana Jaya.
During the three-day expo, Rehda expects some 50,000 visitors in total.
