The growing awareness of opportunities offered by the business events industry in Malaysia, has led to a significant participation in the Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) Conference here from Aug 14-20.
The inaugural conference, jointly organised by the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and GainingEdge, had a target of 200 delegates initially, but the final turnout was 300.
The MBEW is a gathering of Malaysia’s business events industry and its stakeholders to exchange ideas, explore business opportunities, as well as debate issues that impact its future growth and sustainability.
MyCEB Chief Executive Officer Zulkefli Sharif said Malaysia continued to win bids for international business events each year, thus creating, significant growth potential for the local business events industry.
“Using the MBEW as the platform, we want to sustain this momentum by ensuring industry players have the right knowledge and skills to compete on the global stage.
“This is also via a talent pool that can meet the industry’s unique and diverse needs,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the event today.
Established in 2009, MyCEB as a non-profit organisation seeks to further strengthen Malaysia’s global appeal and position as the leading destination for international meetings, incentives, conventions, trade exhibitions and other major events.
