Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) has approved RM55.75 million loans to entrepreneurs in Malacca between 1992 until August 2015, says chairman Mohd Ali Rustam.

“The loans were channelled to 230 companies and businesses in the state through six PUNB’s financing schemes,” he told Bernama today.

He said RM25.77 million was channelled through PUNB’s Prosper Retail Scheme, Prosper Wholesale scheme (RM10.13 million), Proper Property (RM9.9 million), Prosper Teras Programme (RM5.17 million), Prosper Young Entrepreneur (RM2.78 million) and Small and Medium Enterprise Scheme (RM2 million).

For the first eight months this year, over RM13 million in loans had been approved for 32 companies and businesses in the state, he said.

“PUNB has a role to play in promoting successful and competitive bumiputera entrepreneurs,” he said.

PUNB is Malaysia’s national entrepreneur development corporation and a wholly-owned unit of Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra.

It was formed to develop bumiputera entrepreneurs in strategic and high-potential businesses.
