A total of RM115 million will be allocated to bumiputera entrepreneurs in the state in the government’s effort to continue to stimulate entrepreneurial development especially in Iskandar Malaysia.
Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) chief executive officer Husni Salleh, when announcing this, said RM100 million will be channelled through the Facilitation Fund, while the balance will be given via the Entrepreneur Development Fund (EDF).
“The balance of RM15 million represents a new fund that would be given to the small and micro enterprises, which might not be eligible for the Facilitation Fund to expand their business, launched today,” he said to reporters at the Teraju@Iskandar Malaysia SME Outreach 2015 programme here today.
At the same event, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) and Teraju signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for EDF Teraju@Iskandar Malaysia.
Husni said the MOU is aimed at encouraging bumiputera participation in business, as well as further strengthening the skills and capabilities of bumiputera small and micro entrepreneurs.
He also presented a Facilitation Fund replica cheque to three recipients totalling RM5.47 million, namely Elegent Intergrate Sdn Bhd, Jahasrat Farming Sdn Bhd, and Edaran SA Al Habshee Sdn Bhd.
Additionally, six companies also received the TeraS (high-performing bumiputera companies) financing scheme from SME Bank amounting to RM21.77 million.
Besides that, Husni said the annual Teraju@Iskandar Malaysia SME Outreach programme should be fully capitalised by bumiputera entrepreneurs, considering it is an information sharing programme on business opportunities and assistance, suitable, and beneficial for bumiputeras who are interested to develop their businesses.
