KV Resources Sdn Bhd has forged partnership with foreign companies, including that of the US and Australia, to supply defence equipment to the Malaysian Armed Forces at competitive prices.

Managing director Md Nasir Ghani said this enables the company to help the government and the armed forces procure defence equipment without having to spend a huge sum of money.

“We understand the sluggish economic growth at the moment, so we want to help the country get the best defence equipment without putting undue strain on its finance and causing wastage,” he told Bernama during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2015 Exhibition here recently.

He said KV Resources is in the process of supplying five fast interceptor craft (FIC) worth RM14 million to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) to be deployed in eastern Sabah.

Three of the boats had been delivered to the navy – one last year and two more last month, he said, adding that two more boats would be handed over soon.

The FICs, built at a KV Resources’ shipyard in Melaka, are similar to that of the US Navy’s Sea, Air and Land Forces (Seal).

Md Nasir said KV Resources is in the process of proposing a speedboat to the RMN, with the prototype designed by foreign partners ready for a demonstration.

He said the company will also be delivering five rigid hull fender boats costing RM4 million to the Royal Malaysian Police soon.

KV Resources has also partnered an Australia company to produce lightweight bulletproof vests, which it will propose to the police and armed forces, apart from partnering a Bulgarian company to install radars.
