The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) and the Selangor Chamber of Rural Industry Entrepreneurs (DUID) today called on agencies involved in managing funds for bumiputera to expedite the process of distributing assistance.
PPIM activist Nadzim Johan said this is because entrepreneurs who apply for assistance from these agencies genuinely need the funds.
“From the information I received, approved subsidy reached almost RM1 billion, but disbursement only amounted to RM64 million and there are cases pending for more than two years,” he said at a media conference here today.
Nadzim said the situation is burdening entrepreneurs and should be immediately rectified.
“The performance of officers should be monitored and I am calling all entrepreneurs to provide PPIM, the names of inefficient officers to be handed over to the government,” he said.
In this regard, Nadzim also fully supports the distribution of RM1.5 billion from the Bumiputera Agenda Coordinating Unit (Teraju) to bumiputera entrepreneurs.
“I hope the disbursement of funds will be carried out as soon as possible so that entrepreneurs do not have to wait long,” he said.
On March 17, Teraju chief executive officer Husni Salleh said Teraju would channel RM1.5 billion to high performing bumiputera companies this year.
