editors picks in story banner KhairieYesterday AirAsia and AirAsia X bid the old low cost carrier terminal (LCCT) goodbye, moving into klia2 to join others who have made the move on May 2. But did you catch our three-part issue series earlier this week examining the new airport’s controversies? Check out the following news, analyses and comments —unavailable anywhere else — too:

Pick 1 — klia2 explained. Last week klia2 officially opened its doors — years after its original completion date and far beyond its original budget. But is it too expensive? KiniBiz looks at the airport’s costs as well as why AirAsia is curiously unenthusiastic about getting an airport it sorely needs. Then KiniBiz checks out the new airport to get a feel of how it is. Read here, here and here.

Pick 2 — Who is behind Eco World? This week former SP Setia head honcho of nearly 18 years, Liew Kee Sin, joined Eco World’s board not one week after leaving the former for retirement. But who really controls the fast-rising developer — is it Liew and son? Or another unseen party? KiniBiz investigates here and comments in a TigerTalk here.

Pick 3 — Is Putrajaya really willing to invoke WSIA? Recently Selangor Mentri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said invoking the Water Services Industry Act (WSIA) may not be necessary after all since the concessionaires are considering taking the last offered price. Klang MP Charles Santiago thinks that despite Cabinet approval, Putrajaya is not keen on using WSIA for a forced takeover. Read on here.

Pick 4 — Anwar’s hand in UEM-Renong saga? Last weekend saw former UEM Syed Amin Al-Jeffri release a statutory declaration he made last year on the 1997 incident that wiped out 20% of then-Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI). Shedding more light on the mysterious chain of events that saw UEM buy shares in Renong which in turn hold shares in the former, Syed Amin said the purchase was requested by Anwar Ibrahim as finance minister at the time. Read on here.

Pick 5 — Is MAHB misleading the public over klia2 cost? A prominently placed poster at klia2 which claims that the new airport was some 23% cheaper to build per square metre raised eyebrows. Didn’t deputy transport minister Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said it “was within the budget (of) RM4 billion”? KiniBiz looks into the question here.

Pick 6 — MH370: An avoidable tragedy. The tragic disappearance of MH370 is still a mystery with search efforts not yielding anything so far. But the tragedy at hand could have been avoided, argues lawyer Tommy Thomas, who asks the fundamental questions that remains unanswered throughout the saga ever since radio towers lost contact with MH370 in March.
