Faber Group Bhd has re-designated its Group Chief Operating Officer, Business Units, Azmir Merican, as Executive Director and will assume the full authority, duties and functions of the managing director, effective Feb 1.
The change in the group’s top post followed Adnan Mohammad, 54, the Managing Director, who has opted for an early retirement from his contract, which is scheduled to end on March 31, 2014.
In a statement today, Faber Group said Adnan’s departure takes effect tomorrow to pursue his own interests and opportunities.
Before joining UEM Group in October 2012, 43-year-old Azmir was AWC Bhd’s Group Chief Executive and Managing Director.
Prior to AWC, he was attached with CIMB Investment Bank where Azmir was part of the team that established the bank’s private equity business.
Azmir started his career as an investment analyst and later worked as a manager in the financial advisory arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
