Speaking to KiniBiz this morning, Halim confirmed that his team is filing the appeal but declined to comment further.

His legal suit was brought against the government, state investment fund Khazanah Nasional and former minister Nor Mohamed Yakcop in April this year, seeking nearly RM2 billion in damages and compensation for alleged breach of a settlement agreement that precluded his exit from United Engineers Malaysia (UEM) and Renong.

In the dismissal, judge Hanipah Farikullah ruled that Halim failed to raise a reasonable cause of action for the case to be tried, adding that the suit was also filed out of time.

The legal suit sees Halim claiming RM1.8 billion in compensation for him giving up his companies and losses from the rescue of Fleet Group and Fleet Holdings, general damages for a breach of purchasing his 16% of Renong for RM465 million, damages for fraudulent misrepresentation, interest, cost and any other relief deemed proper.
