volvo thumbVolvo Trucks Malaysia, has opened its largest dealership in Port Klang, which can accommodate service and repair works for up to 24 trucks daily.

The Swedish trucks giant described this investment as crucial to its further development in Malaysia and reflecting the continuous efforts at network expansion as well as customer service.

Volvo Malaysia Managing Director Mats Nilsson said the RM25 million dealership with a built-up area of 35,850 sq ft has 20 workstations which can accommodate service and repair works for both Volvo trucks and buses operating within Port Klang.

“The location of our Port Klang flagship dealership is very strategic as it is located along the main transport flow. There are at least 2,000 Volvo trucks in the Port Klang area.

“As such, the dealership enhances our reach and readiness to service them when needed,” he told a press conference before the launch of the dealership by Swedish Ambassador to Malaysia, Bengt Carlsson, at Taman Perindustrian Bandar Sultan Suleiman near here last night.

Nilsson said the new dealership – Volvo has 12 in the country – was built based on a modern workshop design with constructed columns for double bays, so that vehicles can be driven in and out easily.

He said with the opening of the dealership, Volvo aims to establish better dealer coverage by reducing the average travel distance between each of its dealer points to within three hours, besides standardising services according to the company’s global dealer operation standards.

Nilsson said Volvo had enjoyed stable growth since starting operations  in Malaysia 50 years ago, with the country continuing to remain a highly important market for the company’s truck business.
