Malaysia Airlines to codeshare on Emirates’ Dubai flights

Emirates Airbus A380Malaysia Airlines has announced that it will begin to codeshare on Emirates’ four-times daily flight service Kuala Lumpur to Dubai from Feb 15, 2016. This in line with the codeshare partnership it signed with the Middle Eastern airline in December 2015.

In a press statement today, the airline said this will increase flights offered by Malaysia Airlines to Dubai from one daily to four, with all the flights being operated on Emirates aircraft.

The new system would enable customers to enjoy “seamless and convenient connections to Emirates’ more than 90 global destinations,” it added. The airline has also announced that its frequent flyer programme would be aligned with that of Emirates, giving customers more opportunities to earn and redeem points.

Malaysia Airlines added that the partnership was focused on improving seamlessness for its passengers from both airlines by enhancing Emirates’ connectivity with Malaysia and Southeast Asia via its network. This will also enhance Malaysia Airlines’ connectivity to Europe, Middle East, Latin America and Africa through Emirates’ network.

“The partnership allows our guests to travel seamlessly to major cities around the world whilst enjoying increased loyalty rewards through our loyalty programmes. We will be able to offer Kuala Lumpur as a hub to connect to South East Asia, and Dubai for connections to Europe, Middle East and North and South Africa. This arrangement will offer guests a wider network of destinations at greater convenience,” said Malaysia Airlines’ chief executive officer Christoph Mueller.

Malaysia Airlines will be suspending its Kuala Lumpur-Dubai route from Feb 15 and will re-accommodate passengers on its codeshare flights with Emirates. Customers will be able to book these flights directly through Malaysia Airlines from Feb 15, 2016.
