Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd recorded a pre-tax loss of RM7.85 million for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2015 compared to a pre-tax loss of RM5.84 million in the same period in 2014.
Revenue eased to RM61.06 million from RM74.82 million previously.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Utusan Melayu said this year will continue to be challenging with ongoing issues affecting consumer sentiment such as the implementation of the goods and services tax and the weakening of the ringgit against major currencies.
Nevertheless, the group will continue to strengthen its core business while seeking new revenue streams to expand its business portfolios, it said.
“Newspapers’ content improvements are undertaken and creative packages for advertisements are offered in our effort to increase readership and revenue.
“We will constantly focus on strengthening our internal structure to ensure a solid foundation to embark on our future plans,” it added.
