Global Turbine Asia to upkeep RMAF’s A400M engines

An Airbus A400M military aircraft participates in a flying display during the 50th Paris Air ShowGlobal Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA), a bumiputera company, today signed a support service agreement with Europrop International (EPI) for the maintenance of the TP400 engine used by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) A400M military transport aircraft.

The agreement was sealed between GTA chairman and chief executive officer Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi and EPI support service manager, Ricardo Navarro.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre here.

The occasion also coincided with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2015 (LIMA’15) currently underway here.

The newly acquired RMAF A400M aircraft is also participating in the LIMA’15.

GTA, in a press statement said the aircraft’s TP400 engine is a triple-spool turboprop with 11,000 horsepower capacity, making it the most powerful engine of its kind.

It is purposely designed for the A400M airlifter and features proven technologies developed by EPI’s four partners in commercial and military engines, namely ITP, MTU Aero Engines, Safran Snecma, and Rolls Royce.
