Though, the Malaysian property has softened since mid-2014, the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda) Penang branch is eyeing more than RM130 million in sales transactions at the four-day Malaysia Property Exhibition (Mapex) here from Feb 21.

Chairman Jerry Chan said now is the best time for buyers to purchase properties as the price has stabilised with no more wild fluctuations.

He said the downtrend in global oil prices and a weakening of the ringgit has resulted in property prices remaining stable.

“We believe properties in Penang still attract a lot of outstation buyers and am confident we can achieve over RM130 million in sales at the Mapex,” he told reporters here today.

He said Penang’s unique position as a location of choice for investors and tourists will continue to make the state a desirable place when it comes to property and lifestyle living.

Mapex Penang is jointly organised by Rehda Penang and Henry Butcher Malaysia Penang and will exhibit properties ranging from RM300,000 to RM15 million.

Chan said affordable homes will become a highly sought after product moving forward as it is easier to secure loans.
